Wedding portraits in Helsinki | Anastasia & Mika

Just a quick update with a few portrait pictures from todays wedding.

Anastasia and Mika got married in Helsinki, and we took the wedding pictures in the center of the city. The sun had just gone down, but I still managed to get some really nice outdoors shots with them. :) The last portait was taken indoors at Restaurant Sipuli.

Satu & Topi winter wedding photo plus wedding magazine coverage

I just had to post this one image from todays wedding. Satu & Topi, a really great couple, had their wedding at Kulosaaren Casino. And although the weather was pretty bad, it did allow me to capture the mood of their snowy winter wedding day in this portrait taken in the evening. I hope you like it too!

And I was lucky enough to have my pictures pubished in the newest edition of Häät & Juhlat. You can see some (sorry for the low quality) shots of that article below. :) There is a featured wedding of Jussi and Maria found elsewhere in that same magazine, and those wedding photos are also taken by me.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!!! :)

What a wonderful picture, I really like the backround with the lamps and the trees!

Wedding Hassle - January 6, 2011 - 09:27

That first, snowy picture is amazing! Love it, great shot!

Juulia & Janne got married in Tampere

Juulia and Janne had their wedding at Tampere this fall. They had the most amazing wedding dance I’ve ever seen! Scroll down to see some samples of the dance.

The second couple is Alli and Chris, who live in New York. Their wedding was held at Suomenlinna and the venue was Tenalji von Fersen. Enjoy the photos!

Wow, great photos, and a nice looking couple! :) I really love the last one!!

Marisol - November 10, 2010 - 13:42

Love the first ones! The bride, groom, dress, dance everything is just perfect. I want to have her wedding. Love everything, so much love in the air. That must have been a perfect wedding.

Wedding photos from Suomenlinna

These pictures are from late summer/fall. Suomenlinna is such a great place for a wedding! Just so many amazing places to have your wedding photos taken at, that it’s a good idea to spend a little more time to take the portraits than usual. Normally I use about 1 hour to take the portraits, but sometimes even 2 hours if the wedding couple asks for it.

Amazing shots, the Sigma 24mm looks impressive. May I ask what other lenses you used for this shoot?

Shadow Mihai - May 30, 2012 - 07:40

found this page on a link from a sigma 24mm lens review you commented on…

I would disagree a bit with the previous commenter… These pics are not “great wedding pictures” at all… the are F#%$ing Amazing. I honestly don’t recall when I have seen INSPIRED wedding photos… These ones are.

Neil Massey - January 24, 2013 - 14:49

They’re ok I suppose……..No really they’re amazing shots! You must be proud of them!

Wedding Photojournalistic Association (WPJA) awards

As of 2010, I’m the only Finnish wedding photographer to have earned the Gold (1st place) and Blue (5th place) medallions from the world largest wedding photographers association – the prestigious WPJA ( Actually, no other Finnish photographer has earned any medals in the WPJA, so I’m very humbled by my accomplisment. WPJA competitions are worldwide, with hundreds of the worlds top wedding photographers attending, so I am very happy to have achieved this honor so soon in my career. :)

A lot of foreing couples in destination weddings

This month I had 4 foreing couples in total! They live in New York, London, Munich and Hong Kong, but all decided to get married here in Finland. (Ok, the couple from Hong Kong didn’t get married here, but still wanted to get some pictures from the beautiful Finnish nature :) . And if you’re not familiar with the term ‘destination wedding’, it means that you get married somewhere else than the country you live in. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do!

The first set of photos is from Tampere, where Eeva&James got married, and the last set is from Helsinki and Espoo, where the Asian couple wanted their wedding photos to be taken at, because they wanted the Finnish countryside and forest in their wedding photos.

Anna & David got married in the countryside at Tampere

The busy summer season continues! First set of pictures are from Tampere, where Anna and David had a wonderful wedding day. They had used a lot of time on the decorations, and it really paid off, as they looked perfect at their wedding venue!

After that a few pics from Suomenlinna, Helsinki, where Satu and Phil got married.

Rainy wedding photos from Turku and a friends wedding in Helsinki

The first couple had their wedding photos taken in Turku. The weather was changing all the time – at times it was sunny, but suddenly it could start raining. But it didn’t bother us, as the most romantic pictures were the ones taken while it was raining.

Many of these pictures are from my friends’ wedding (Maria & Jussi, the couple in the very last picture in this post), and some of them can also be seen in the “Häät ja juhlat”-magazine, that comes out in October 2010 here in Finland.
